We catch an early domestic flight to Danang, Vietnam’s third largest city located in central Vietnam, popular for its clean beaches and marble statues.
After eating breakfast along the Han River, we all took a 5-hour nap at our hotel before waking up again to frolic in the clear green ocean at My Khe Beach. The peaceful beach overlooks mountain ranges, and locals provide us with snacks on the beach like peanuts, quail eggs, sausage, and slices of pineapple.
By nighttime, we headed off to Hoi An, the ancient city.
This small village, referred to as the ancient city for its preservation, is completely lit with lanterns. No cars or mopeds are allowed to ride in the streets of Hoi An; walking or biking only. The village preserves building structures and rejects electricity, for the most part. The streets are narrow and are lined with bricks. Because of it’s limited used of electricity, the village is more hot and humid than some of the cities we’ve been to. Now a popular tourist location, Hoi An is a great place for shopping opportunities. Many residents own businesses and sell lanterns, bags, shoes, clothing, and more. Because of the great number of tourists that enter the village, many business owners can speak in English. We strolled in the village under hundreds and hundreds of lanterns, even stopping along a bridge to cast a paper lantern into the river upon making a wish.
