While the workers concentrated on cementing the walls of the house, the VHP group worked on digging a ditch deep enough to be an outhouse for the family. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>While most of the VHP group were at the hole, a few of us assisted two local workers by creating the cement and refilling buckets of cement for the workers. The method of cementing the walls looks simple, but it requires a lot of precision. The workers do it so quickly and effortlessly to cover an inch-thick layer of cement onto the brick walls.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-105\" src=\"https:\/\/vietnamhealthproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/DSC00648.jpg\" alt=\"DSC00648\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vietnamhealthproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/DSC00648.jpg 640w, https:\/\/vietnamhealthproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/DSC00648-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The rest of the VHP group worked hard on digging a ditch deep and wide enough to provide an outhouse for the family. The ditch was about a meter deep and wide. While digging into the hole, it took effort to dig out old trash and compost that was buried inside the earth. We dig out plastic bags, paper cups, bricks, branches, wires and more. We were lucky that the house had been built high enough that it provided shade for our group as we dug the hole.
